3.7 Configuring Starface Connect Plugin bundle for inbound / outbound calls

Please note: FoneConnector 1.1 is compatible with Apple Snow Leopard (Mac OS X 10.6.4) and Daylite 3.11 or newer.
Starface Connect requires different installation files for Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard and Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard.

(The STARFACE telephony system is based on the very popular Asterisk open source PBX)

The Starface Connect plugin bundle is an extension to FoneConnector for Daylite and is sold as a separate product. It offers:
  • a Phone Plugin for FoneConnector to handle inbound calls
     
  • and installs a dialer plugin for Daylite to handle outbound calls.
You will get a complete and integrated in-/outbound solution for professional VOIP-telephony in conjunction with Daylite. We recommend this setup for professional CRM-telephony integration scenarios, that is very flexible and »transportable« (as you can use your VOIP-accounts even with soft-phones on your Mac or iPhone while traveling and are still connected with your office telephony and your CRM system).

Please contact us via e-mail if you are interested in obtaining and setting up a Daylite-integrated STARFACE system.

Requirements:
  • FoneConnector for Daylite must be installed and configured
     
  • A STARFACE VOIP telephony system
     
  • Your STARFACE system must be configured and working (regardless of FoneConnector)
     
  • An individual user account for you on your STARFACE system
     
  • The telephone you want to use with Daylite & FoneConnector must be setup as your primary phone in STARFACE Admin settings (under our user-account) so that it rings when you use the dialer option in Daylite

3.7.1. Install Starface Connect for Daylite

Double click on the StarfaceConnectForDaylite.dmg:

Start the installer »Starface Connect for Daylite.mpkg« and follow the instructions of the installer.

You have two options:

Installing a free 14-day trial of Starface Connect for testing purposes ...

... or entering your Starface Connect licence directly. In this case please make sure you have an active connection to the Internet as the licence will be validated with our servers.

(You can enter your Starface Connect licence also later in FoneConnector preferences when you add the Starface plugin and use the dialer plugin)

After a successful installation Starface Connect is ready to use within FoneConnector (as an inbound Phone Plugin) and Daylite (as an outbound dialer plugin).


3.7.2. Activating inbound functionality through FoneConnector

Add the Starface Phone Plugin in FoneConnector -> Preferences -> Phones ...

... give it a name (we suggest you enter your STARFACE account's username), cick »Add« ...

... and enter your STARFACE account's login information:
  • Your STARFACE user name (Login-ID)
  • Your STARFACE password
  • The server-address of your STARFACE system

Click the »Apply« button at the lower right to activate the connection to your STARFACE system. If everything is entered correctly the status message of the Starface Phone Plugin should show »ready«:

Click on the »License« button to enter you license information, if you didn't do so while installing Starface Connect for Daylite.

Now call the phone number that is assigned to your STARFACE phone

If everything is set up correctly, the Starface Phone Plugin in FoneConnector is notified of the incoming call along with the caller's phone number. FoneConnector performs a lookup in the Daylite database and opens a Call Window in Daylite:

You are now ready to handle inbound calls from your STARFACE system in Daylite.



3.7.3. Using outbound dialing functionality through the Starface dialer

Starface Connect installs also an outbound dialer plugin for Daylite. Please make sure you have followed all the above steps and the inbound handling works. The telephone you want to use with Daylite & outbound calls must be setup as your primary phone in STARFACE Admin settings (under our user-account) so that it rings when you use the dialer option (ask you STARFACE administrator for that).

Here's how to use the outbound dialer:
Select a contact in Daylite, click on the desired phone label (not the number) in the Contact details and select Dial from the pop-up menu. Or select a contact and click on Actions -> Dial Primary Phone / Dial Secondary Phone from the Daylite menubar.

This will open Daylite's dial window - see below how this must be configured to dial through STARFACE:

       FC-Starface-Dialer

  1. Select »Starface Dialer« as Device
     
  2. Switch to the »Dialer Preferences« Tab
     
  3. Enter your STARFACE user account details (user name, password, server-address of your STARFACE system)
     
  4. Click on »Save Settings« for the STARFACE settings to take effect!
     
  5. Click »Dial« to dial this number through your STARFACE system
     
  6. Click this button to check for updates of the Starface Dialer Plugin
     
  7. Click on the »License« button to enter you license information, if you didn't do so while installing Starface Connect for Daylite.

If everything is set up correctly you can call your contacts with a click of the mouse, which dials their phone number through STARFACE and lets you primary phone ring at the same time.
